The world of social media has changed! People are using platforms for information as much as entertainment and online shopping has firmly extended out to social media, along with customer service. It is no longer ‘nice’ to opitimize timings and strategy - it is essential!

Instagram - best days and times to post

  • Wednesday 11am - 12pm

More people are spending more time on Instagram, which has opened up a larger window of the optimum time to post, with all weekdays showing a peak between 11am and 12pm.

Facebook’s window of best times to post has also increased. Posts after 5pm and on weekends are seeing significant decreases in engagement.

LinkedIn - best days and times to post

  • Wednesday 9am - 2pm
  • Thursday 9am - 12pm
  • Friday 10am - 11am

LinkedIn typically has a density of engagement between Tuesday and Thursday, between the hours of 9am and 12pm. Again, weekends show a large reduction in activity.

Twitter - best days and times to post

  • Thursday 9am - 12pm

Usage patterns for Twitter have remained largely similar, with just a subtle change to Friday activity, which now peaks at 9am. Tuesdays and Thursday, particularly between 9am and 11am work well, and Wednesday shows the broadest period of higher-levels of engagement between 9am and 3pm.

TikTok - best days and times to post

TikTok will be banned in the US from Sunday

  • Monday - Friday 6am - 10am
  • Monday - Friday 7pm - 11pm

TikTok’s usage has continued to increase post April 2020. According to the 2021 TikTok marketing statistics by Oberlo, 90% of TikTok users access the app on a daily basis. This opens up a large window to get your message in front of people. In general, though, it’s best to post on TikTok in the morning and after work hours

Pinterest - best days and times to post


  • Friday 8pm - 11pm (peaking at 9pm)
  • Saturday 8pm - 11pm (peaking at 9pm)

Pinterest has a very different demographic compared to the other platforms, skewing heavily female. Pinterest also has a different use-case as users tend to have an objective of gaining inspiration or discovering something new, rather than looking for entertainment. Which explains why the peak times of activity are also different to what we’ve seen elsewhere.

Snapchat - best days and times to post


  • he best time to post your snaps is late at night between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. The majority of Snapchatter are active during these hours. (Amplifer, 2019)
  • There’s no best day to post on Snapchat, as users actively use the app on all days of the week.

Snapchat is considered to be a nocturnal app that most people use during the night. So keep this in mind when posting snaps about your product or service.

YouTube - best days and times to post


  • Friday 2pm - 4pm - Worst days to post: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays

YouTube content is not necessarily picked up by the algorithm immediately and as such, it’s advisable to understand both the best time to post and when videos are most watched. Most users watch videos in the evening, hence between 7 pm and 10 pm iis when YouTube receives the most traffic, so you’ll want to have your videos indexed by then (How Sociable, 2020).
