Facebook’s currently filling it’s boots with all the best original content it can get its hands on. It’s looking to boast a library of thousands of shows from hundreds of content creators, giving it’s users an experience they can’t get anywhere else.
Although Facebook has admitted to funding some of its Facebook Watch content, anybody can create shows, spanning from fictional TV shows, to live events and reality TV. With such a massive audience using Facebook, any popular content creators could be looking at a fairly significant revenue share.
Much like Netflix, Facebook users can scroll through categories until they find a show that takes their interest. Shows may also appear in their newsfeed if a friend is talking about their new favourite programme, or if someone is following a content creator.
However, (and this is where things get interesting) any TV shows will appear as pages on Facebook that users can subscribe to. There will also be Facebook groups connected to these programmes that allow for intense debates and discussions between fans and creators.
